Facing the rapidly changing global trends, future talents need to learn interdisciplinary and diverse knowledge, and possess the spirit of cross-domain exploration and learning.

Self-Directed Learning curriculum are divided into three types:

  1. Guided Study:This course is collaboratively constructed by teachers and students, students should propose learning projects during course selection period. Teachers assist students in executing the project.
  2. Inquiry Study is open to a team of students with a strong motivation to learn and who are ready to plan at least 32 hours of class activities preferably with a focus on inter-disciplinary studies and topics.
  3. MOOCs refers to Massive Open Online Courses either hosted by this University or the three international platforms of CourseraUdacityedX.  MOOCs offered by this University are: Self-Directed Learning: MOOCs (I) and Self-Directed Learning: MOOCs (II). Each course is worth two (2) credits respectively.

Grading Procedures

  1. Guided Study and Inquiry Study will be graded as Pass/Fail.
  2. Grades and credits for MOOCs shall be handled in accordance with the methods announced by this University’s Office of Academic Affairs.
Guided Study

Inquiry Study
The learning methods adopted by the students shall not be limited to one direction, but instead shall be organized in a diverse and varied format. Learning methods may include hands-on practice, internships, interviews, field surveys, field activities, reading materials, seminars, workshops, online courses, etc.
Inquiry Studies is generally a semester-long course. The student team representative shall submit a study plan in the submission period announced by the Center for General Education in the semester prior to the opening of the course.
